Welcome to DAY SEVEN of the Spring Fever Giveaway 2011! Our final giveaway!
Today’s giveaway is a prize package from Dance Advantage with our friend Richard Maddock.
Normally, I’d tell you a little bit about Dance Advantage in this space but you’re already here! So, I’m just going to encourage you, especially if you’re visiting for the first time, to explore. Clicking the Get Started button is an excellent place to begin. From there you can access some key components of the site. I recommend checking out our Cornerstone Content (featuring a mere sample of the nearly 500 articles on the site, plus how to navigate your way to more of the content you want), and our Facts and FAQs page.
Richard Maddock is an accomplished musician (see for yourself) as well as a seasoned dance class and exam accompanist. He is currently Head Accompanist at The Pia Bouman School of Creative Movement and Ballet, in Toronto, Canada. We talked to him last year about his years of experience as an accompanist.
His full-length CDs are well-known in the dance community. Music for Movement and Imaginations; Ballet Studio Inspirations: Volume Two, and Three; The Garden Within; and As Creation Unfolds: Part Three have all been reviewed (and given away) on this site before. Four of these albums have been digitally remastered and can now be found on iTunes and Amazon.com for download.
The Giveaway
TWO Dance Advantage readers will win:
- A copy of The Dancer’s Way: The New York City Ballet Guide to Mind, Body, and Nutrition
by former dancer, clinical psychologist, and key developer of NYCB’s wellness program, Linda H. Hamilton (also known for her popular advice column in Dance Magazine). This book is a comprehensive dancer’s companion. It provides truly practical advice and useful information for dancers of any age, any level of experience, and in any dance form.
- Richard Maddock’s As Creation Unfolds: Part Three instrumental CD. Suitable for choreography or relaxation, this album takes the listener on a sometimes deliberate, sometimes meandering but always reassuring journey of reflection and memory.
- A Dance Advantage micro-fiber sleeveless t-shirt featuring our basic logo design, available at Zazzle.com Store.
ONE Grand Prize winner will get…

I read Dance Advantage because there is so much information out there and you track down the new stuff I might have missed for me!
I tattled and shared Richard’s beautiful music on facebook (vivette ashen-brenner) and have the freebie fever.
Dance Advantage seems to always come up with an article on a topic just when I need it. I find that there is always something that I can use on Dance Advantage whether inspiration as a teacher/dancer or gems for the business owner.
I think as a dance teacher is it necessary to stay current on the latest information that is out there involving dance. It is so great to read about other teachers and what methods work for them. It is great to keep up to date on music, choreography, injury prevention and care, etc. This website is great and offers such a variety of information to the subscribers. I was so glad when I found it.
thanks so much for the excellent opportunities! i tattled and shared this info on twitter 🙂
I read Dance Advantage for the amazing articles on technique and I’ve recently enjoyed the articles on the spine/sacrum and the knees. Great job!
I have recently become a reader of Dance Advantage and like the many factors it talks about in dance. The articles are informative and is a great resource.
I read DA because its so great to always be learning new bits of info that you didn’t know before…its a great resource!! I tattled thid giveaway on twitter! 🙂
Dance Advantage is my dance drug of choice. I love reading all the post everyday. It is informative, inspiring and passionate about dance. If I stay informed, inspired and passionate about dance because of Dance Advantage then I pass that on to my students. Ricahrd’s music is fabulous. I never tire of listening to his cd’s. I love all that he shares on facebook and routinely share it with my students.
Want a fantastic week of give aways it’s been! The main reason I come to dance advantage is to learn and expand and to be the best teacher I can be. To gain new ideas, to feel a part of a larger community. Thanks for all you do! I tattled about this on facebook and my freebie fever is at a frenzy!
I pinged! 😉
I love Dance Advantage because you have ssooooo many resources for students like me. I have found your “Step of Aplomb” series very helpful!
I love Dance Advantage for it’s connection to the dance world at large. It is fun to keep up with “all things dance” all in one place! There is so much information available and it is presented in a very “user friendly” fashion.
I went to Amazon and “liked” Richard’s downloaded music!
Freebie fever has been fun this week! Many thanks for the Giveaway!!!
I like Dance Advantage because of the wealth of information available! I barely have time to read everything! Thanks for the freebie fever.
One of the reasons I like DA is that its (and Nichelle’s) philosophy about dance and dance education is in line with my own. I’m not crazy about websites that are all about promotion and business – I prefer to look at teaching ballet from a holistic approach. After all, dance is an art form and one that is very hard to convey to students, no matter the age. If we are to ensure that it lives on beyond us, we can’t ignore how students learn and why they do or don’t.
Thanks for all the giveaways this week! I tweeted this one too…
I love DA for all of your creative ideas, new information, and amazing support of all things dance. It’s great to have a place online that brings a community of dancers, dance teachers, and parents together. DA does just that! Thank you 🙂
I’m fairly new. I came to be a follower because I was asked to share a photo. So far I’ve enjoyed how diverse it is. The newsletters offer a lot from all different areas Ballet – Hip hop. I also enjoy how the information shared with us is brought in from many different ares of experience, location, etc. DA shares something for everyone.
(sorry if this didn’t make sense, I’m better with my feet than my words 😛 )
I have just recently discovered your amazing website and I find myself spending hours everyday on here. I read articles that help me with my own dancing, how to teach dance and I haven’t even made it to the section dealing with parents of dancers!!! This is the website I have been trying to find for a long time now. Thank goodness you created an app for the iphone or I might still be searching!! I have yet to come across information that was not useful to me!! Thank you so much!
I tattled on FB. What a great give away!
The main reason I visit DanceAdvantage is because the content is high quality. Also, as a teacher, I like the message they support for students, teachers, parents and the dance industry.
PS – My freebie feever is unstoppable. I have tattled again on Facebook.
As a dance student, teacher, and fan I love the fact that Dance Advantage has something to offer me in each of those roles. Great site!
I’m sad I will no longer have freebie fever because the contests have come to an end… sigh… but on a brighter note, lets celebrate Dance Advantage!! I am a reader because Nichelle always seems to inspire me, whether it be with her awesome ideas, creative contests, informative articles, etc. No matter what I am doing her posts and email reminders attract my attention and I too get into creative mode. I found Dance Advantage through their tweets many moons ago, lol, then Nichelle inspired me to start my studios blog. I will never forget that and am always very thankful because not only is DA a great tool for teachers, students and studio owners, it helps us do more…it helps us get focused on dance again no matter how busy our lives are. BTW, I tattled on FB and twitter under @lesleac @uptowndance Leslea Clark and Uptown Dance Studio!
I have just discovered Dance Advantage — as someone who loves to watch dance and of the parent of 3 children who are involved with dance in different levels this seems to be a great place to gather all kinds of information, from what is going on in our area thru the local guides, thru all the diff areas for parents/students–it is definitely a site that I will explore more and share with my daughter
I enjoy the articles on technique and alignment best, although it’s tough to choose 🙂
The articles that are posted on Dance Advantage are very informative and are one of the very useful tools that help me stay on top of my game as a dance teacher and enthusiast. It is also always so enlightening to read the comments of the other members. I always feel that I can learn so much from my fellow dancers and teachers!!
Love DA for the great teacher and studio articles. I also love being able to refer students and parents to the site knowing they’ll get quality information!
