In Greek mythology Terpsichore is the muse of lyrical poetry and dance but the word more literally means, “delighting in dancing”. You might also know that a Greek chorus is a group of performers who comment on the action within a play. A striking animation opens David Kinsella’s 2007 film, A Beautiful Tragedy. “Once upon a time,” it begins, “there lived a woman. She dreamed of becoming a ballerina but her dreams never came true… and then she gave birth to a little girl, and decided that the babe would become a ballet dancer.”
Paolo Santos came to photography by way of film making. He got his first digital SLR camera strictly to create time lapse sequences for his work in 2005. When the camera was not taking time lapse, he was snapping images here and there and finally, one day decided to get serious with it. This image was taken outdoors in Utah and it features his wife, Caroline Sicard.
